Ahmed Bakhat Masood
Ahmed Bakhat Masood has been working as Deputy Director (ICT/Network) since 1998, and is a member of TF-AIDN and ICANN. He previously worked at Instaphone and PTCL. He holds an MS in Telecom & Networks from Iqra University Islamabad Pakistan, a Master in Computer Science (MCS), and is a Lead auditor ISO 27001, MCSE. His job description includes Liaison with national International organization for execution of ICT trainings and projects, Project Management of ICT projects by PT, implementation of ISMS ISO 27001, Preparation and implementation of SLAs and Policies and Event management in all national and international seminars/ workshops /conferences conducted by PTA.
Bashar Al-Abdulhadi is the Founder and CTO of KuwaitNET, The first specialized web hosting and domain registration provider since 1997 in Kuwait and Arab world which became an ICANN accredited registrar back in 2006. He is an active member of ICANN Arabic community. he participated in many regional events such as Arab Internet Governance Summer School that took place in Egypt, ICANN Regional meeting that took place in Hong Kong and Dubai and the Arab Internet Governance Forums that took place in Kuwait and Dubai. Being Opensource Enthusiast he co-founded Kuwait Open Source Community and the Google Developers Group Kuwait's Chapter.
Mahmoud Lattouf holds a BEng. Honours Degree in Computing and Communication Systems Engineering from the University of Manchester. He is currently the Executive Director of TAG-Domains, an ICANN accredited registrar based in Jordan. During the past 10 years, Mahmoud has worked extensively with clients from around the globe to help put their online brand protection strategies. TAG-Domains also assisted several gTLD and ccTLD registries during their launch and operation. Mahmoud is also experienced on intellectual property issues on the Internet.
Dr. Rafid Fatani has a background in Internet Engineering and a Ph.D. in Internet governance and regulation. Director of Policy and Stakeholder Relations at boutique Internet consultancy, SASIconsult, he also works as a part time consultant for the United Nations Internet Governance Forum, and is part of an advisory committee at ICANN representing ‘Internet users’. Fatani has been extremely active in the global Internet policy scene and has built a strong reputation amongst peers. He has presented numerous papers to global audiences, and is a regular key contributor to the global debate. Beyond his roles with intergovernmental organizations, Fatani extended his expertise to different stakeholder groups including the Internet Society (ISOC) who appointed him an ISOC Ambassador for two years and an Organization for Economic Co-operation & Development (OECD) Fellow to the Technology Foresight Forum. His current focus is on public policy surrounding the Internet, access policy, ICT for development, Internet empowerment mechanisms.
Mr. Barrett has been involved in DNS and domain names since 1995. He is currently founder and President of EnCirca, an ICANN-accredited Registrar. Subsidiaries include: TM.Biz, an agent for the Trademark Clearinghouse and Calzone.org, a calendar for the domain name industry. Previously, he was a consultant to Neustar, CEO of NetNames Ltd (which he sold to NetBenefit Ltd), founding Board Member of Afilias and Vice-President at the trademark research subsidiary of Thomson Reuters. Mr. Barrett has engineering degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Worcester Polytechnic Institute and resides near Boston, Massachusetts.
Wael Nasr is Senior VP at WiseDots LLC based in LA, California. Wael Nasr has built a wide experience in internet business over the past 15 years as he led the business development effort for Arabic Domains business at i-DNS.net in Palo Alto, CA. and at Intermediates in Dubai, UAE. Mr. Nasr holds Engineering Degrees from Stanford University, The American University in Cairo, and Cairo University. He has more than 10 publications, 3 patents and 2 RFCs.
Local Host Liaison
Christine Arida, Executive Director for Telecom Services Planning, National Telecom Regulatory Authority of Egypt. She has been working for the government of Egypt for over 20 years, in areas of Internet development and related public policies. During her work at NTRA she has lead the drafting of Egypt’s National Broadband Plan “eMisr” (November 2011) and has participated to the launching of Egypt’s IDN ccTLD “dotMasr” (2010). From 2001 to 2006 she has worked for the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, where she was involved in drafting “Egypt’s Broadband Agenda 2004 - 2007”. Ms. Arida started her career at the Cabinet's Information and Decision Support Center, where she worked on introducing Internet services in Egypt (1992). Ms. Arida has participated in establishing the Arab IGF and presently leads its secretariat. She also serves as chair of the Arab gTLDs Project Steering Committee at the League of Arab States. She is a founding member of AfriNIC and has been representing the Government of Egypt at the IGF MAG since 2007. Ms. Arida holds a B.Sc. degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University.
Fahd joined ICANN in October 2013. Prior to ICANN, he held several positions within Jordan's National IT Center (NITC) last of which was managing both the ccTLD and IDN ccTLD of Jordan. Fahd has attended ICANN meetings on regular basis since 2008, and was active in several working groups. Other than his day job with the government of Jordan, Fahd has provided many consultancies related to Internet Governance, New gTLDs, and Internet Policy Development. He holds a B.Sc. in Computer Engineering with honors, and an MBA. He is married, and has two sons. Fahd is based in Amman, Jordan. Fahd’s role with the ME DNS Forum Program Committee is to provide the necessary support, as well as act as a liaison between the ME DNS Forum PC members and the annual ME DNS Forum’s logistics.
