Dr. Özgit is a graduate of Middle East Technical University (METU). He worked abroad as a  software engineer and technical support manager for two years before rejoining METU, where he has served as the Assistant Director, and then Director of the Computer Center.

(NAME) initiated and managed several forerunner projects in the country during the 1980s and 90s, such as the first Internet connection of TR, installing the first Unix-based servers, and developing the first fiber-optic campus network.

He served as manager of ccTLD .tr, from the very early days of Turkey’s Internet  connection until September 2022, when “.tr” administration responsibilities were handed over to BTK.

 After retiring last year from the Computer Engineering and Cybersecurity departments of METU, he has been conducting research in information security, particularly on defense technologies.
