CHAFIC CHAYA

Chafic Chaya, Ph.D., is the regional manager for public policy and government affairs in the Middle East at the Réseaux IP Européens Network Coordination Centre (RIPE NCC). With more than 30 years of experience in Internet governance, public policy, and infrastructure development, he collaborates with governments, policymakers, and regulators to advance a secure, resilient, and inclusive internet. He leads capacity-building initiatives that equip stakeholders with essential knowledge. Active in global and regional forums – such as the World Summit on the Information Society, the Internet Governance Forum, and the International Telecommunication Union – and promotes the multistakeholder model of Internet governance.

Dr. Chaya has a doctorate in Internet governance, a master’s in business administration, and a telecommunications engineering bachelor’s degree. He also participates in efforts around the Global Digital Compact, Lebanon Internet Governance Forum, and artificial intelligence policy networks.
