Sarmad Hussain is Senior Director of Internationalized Domain Names and Universal Acceptance Programs at ICANN. Previously, he was a professor of computer science and was Chair of multilingual computing at the IDRC. Sarmad’s research focused on developing computing solutions for Asian languages, including linguistics, localization, speech processing, and computational linguistics. He has been an active member of the ICANN community, and engaged in the IDN ccTLD application for Pakistan. Sarmad was also a member of ICANN’s Security and Stability Advisory Committee before joining ICANN staff.
