THERESA SWINEHART

Theresa Swinehart is Senior Vice President of Global Domains and Strategy at ICANN and an expert in global Internet governance, serving as co-deputy to the President and CEO. With nearly 20 years as a key contributor to ICANN’s growth, she brings a valuable perspective on efficient, collaborative solutions for the global Internet community.

Theresa rejoined ICANN after three years as Executive Director of Global Internet Policy at Verizon Communications, focusing on emerging issues and stakeholder engagement. She previously served as ICANN’s Vice President of Global and Strategic Partnerships, leading global outreach efforts, and was Director of Global E-Commerce at MCI, where she managed issues including ISP liability, data protection, and the formation of ICANN.

Theresa holds a bachelor’s degree in international relations from the University of California, Davis, a graduate degree in international studies from the University of Vienna, and a Juris Doctor from American University. She has served on the Internet Society’s Board of Trustees and the IGF’s Multistakeholder Advisory Committee.
